Hmmm.

Faulty accumulator - No, if it was then the fluid level would be low all the time and would not dump out the overflow.

Overfilled - Well I think it has been at some point, but that's not the overiding problem.

Split pipe or other leak - Now that's what I am thinking, leaving it overnight then going in though the passengers door to open the bonnet would prove how high the level gets, do this 2 days running and see if it's dropped. Then if there's none in your catch tank we can start to investigate where it's going, normally it's a blown seal in the backplate and this allows air into the system which will force out/displace fluid through the overflow.

WRONG!!!!

Oh no!! It's the end of the world, whatever shall we do???

Hey guys. Accumulator swap went according to plan and she now holds the pressure. Also, no more oil leaks in the morning - which makes the 'Jam Jar' on the end of the breather pipe obsolete.

HOWEVER, i got a few more questions:

1) when I was 'in there' I noticed an inspection hole on top of the gearbox - see picture:

Photo of inspection hole on top of Gearbox

should this be covered by a plug or is it normal to be open?

2) When cold the 147 'bunny-hops' a little bit on the first few stop-start manoeuvres. It disappears when warm after the first kilometres and performs as normal? Is this due to a damaged clutch solenoid maybe?

3) how can I find the clutch rod value in Fiat ECU Scan? there are so many value to read out - but non refers to a clutch rod... what should I look for?

It' should have a bung there to stop ingress of foriegn objects.

Bunny hops are normally sorted by a clutch self calibration.

Clutch position and clutch reference are the 2 options in parameters, you want "clutch position".

3. Under the Selespeed ECU should be able to 'Rod length'???

4. there is a ROUTINE of the selespeed system called P.I.S. that may need to be done to your car. Its 'top secret' Alfa secret which i've been told about & have sworn not to tell. the password is "baaramewe, to your marquee be true"

RE 3) Fiat ECU Scan does not refer to any 'clutch rods' unfortunately, but there are

a) Gear/engage position
b) Selection position
c) Clutch pressure plate travel
d) Clutch pressure plate reference

which one would be the correct value?

RE 4) Serious? how you do that?

'C' is the one, then once it's calibrated you'll get a figure in 'D', then ensure that both are within 28 - 28.5mm if not adjust the rod again and recalibrate, it can take a couple of attempts to get it to sit right.

OMG - the difference that this makes is just ridiculous! the rod was sitting at 32.750mm! Its like a different car now...

in terms of calibration, smaky, what routine should I run?

thank you for all your help, guys!

Hi,
I have a Lancia Delta with 1.6 Multijet 120 (fiat engine) (200.000 km) and a selectronic gearbox (very similar to dualogic or selespeed) Can I ask you for your advise:
The system is running fine :-) but I have had a small leak somewhere from the selectonic unit for about 2 years. I have replaced the oil in the selespeed and the gearbox about 2 years ago.

1. Is it normal that when I open the car through passenger door and check the selespeed oil level it is right to the top of the container, well above the maximum level. But as soon as the pump is activated the level drops well below the minimum level...

2.The pressure in my system is between 35-40 bars. I heard it is meant to be lower than in Alfas, but does anyone know if it is acceptable?
Thanks a lot for your advice,
Artur

That sounds about right.
I suspect that if you top it up to the "max" line after the pump has run, it will just blow the excess out via the breather when the system relaxes, bringing it back to the level it is at now.
