I have just bought an 08 plate 2.4 jdtm and had a scary moment on Tuesday when the pedal went all the way to the floor when accelerating and decided to stay there.....

I have probably driven it 200 miles in total since buying it and this was a mile from home after a one hour journey - I have read old posts about floor mats sliding under the pedals but don't think this is the issue here.

It felt as if a cable had snapped as the engine went to the red line and the revs would not come back down - I reckon the clutch has burnt out as it was holding the car back (speed did not increase just the revs).

As soon as I could find somewhere safe to stop the pedal came back to the normal position.

Has anyone heard of anything like this happening ? I don't know much about the 159 and have had to go away to work so can't check anything on the car at the moment - do they have a conventional throttle cable or is it an electronic system ?

Thanks for any help !
