Steering made groaning noises, checked reservoir, low. Looked around and found drip on nearside end of rack.

Bugger

Bummer, it is a weak point, especially if the wrong fluid was used, which they managed to regularly do at the factory.

I have a kit somewhere to flush and refill, done a few back in the day.

Well as the car is coming up on twelve years old, things are breaking.
It's always a conundrum fix the old one or pay lots for a newer car.

This is true, the think with these is subframe corrosion which will inform your decision to keep spending or not.

Good call, I'll ask the garage to take a good look at that while they are underneath.

Something else to look for, should be getting a 159 next year while we save for a deposit for a Giulia.

The subframe is the biggest issue, steering and broken coils are also issues, the the usual bushes etc.

Mind you, if I find decent 156, I might get that

Got the car back and the mechanics first words were "you're going to need a front subframe soon"

Oh hell
