The wee diesels seem to struggle to keep hear and have worse DPF issues.

We had the 135MA turbo - the 1.4 and in the 500X we had the newer 140bhp version. No issues but the MA isn’t exactly frugal if you use the power

So which James shall I be today, May or Hunt?

Springs?

Beyond that its all just normal older car stuff.

Common stuff:
EGR
DPF
210 jtd cylinder head
PAS pump / rack
Springs
Fan resistor pack
200 Jtd fuel hose
JTS timing chain stretch
Ti chipping of front wheel arches
Subframe corrosion if not caught early

So really as I would be looking at an older Guilietta (2010-2012) area, the two litre diesel may be a better bet.

I like the Giulietta too. I have a very late 2012 1.4TB MA Veloce (170Bhp) and it goes pretty much as well as my old 2.5V6's.

Interior is... well... not brilliant: the seats lack support; the switchgear (stalks mostly), low rent really and probably parts bin Fiat group stuff.

I still have a 156, too. My 1.8TS that I've had for 5+ years. Happy days!

The petrols Giuliettas hold their value well. I still paid 8K for mine at 5 years old but that was via a dealer with a full warranty. Oh and mine had just over 30K miles so it's pretty immaculate.

Oh, and mine also has the 330mm discs and red callipers - the 4 pot Brembo option.

The light colours look great on the G IMHO. Darker colours mute the already slightly Eurobox styling. I wanted a red or white car and ended up with Bianco Pastello whith with VERY dark anthracite coloured 17" turbine wheels. Not sure what the paint code/colour is for them but with the red callipers and Veloce spec body she actually looks good. Took me 3 months to find one though!!

Gotta keep the faith!

She's our third 156, and, well, assuming she doesn't rot her floor out from beneath her, she's staying put. Only getting around 2K miles a year now, so, it's weekend tuning drives really. I'm a year over needing a timing belt change but as she's done about 10K since the last one and the belt looks great still, it can wait a few more weeks.

Only downside is that Curly has managed to damage every corner, and reversed into a wall on the nearside corner that took out the paint from the bumper, moved it back by 3mm on the wheel arch line and has dented the seam of the rear arch to rear wing panel. So, she's needing some paint but I'm wondering whether I should wait until she becomes Alfa racing pink before doing it, and the whole car.

Our last link was the 500X which had the same engine as the MiTo it replaced, now its an Evoque and Ive a V90, so no faith whatsoever at this end.

Would have liked a Gillian SW, the Stelvio just looks a bit odd and wasn’t quite big enough.

Well today I drove a 1.6 jtd, as a local dealer had one. Reasonably impressed, lacking the acceleration at speed I'm used to , but not bad.

And it has working aircon

And I have to echo comments about the interior. Nothing like the same degree of style as the 159 or even a 156. Plenty of shiny bits.
